More About Tommy Ingram |
Tommy
Ingram began his comedy career telling jokes during his years at Burke
County Middle School in Waynesboro, Georgia. Tommy would often
tell jokes in front of the class and began to be well known as a funny
and entertaining young man. Teachers at school would often laugh
at Tommy's jokes, but would also get upset for having the students laughing
so hard during class. This continued at Burke County High School
where Tommy would do different comical acts with his classmates. Tommy
enjoyed playing pranks and telling jokes to make his classmates and friends
laugh. After
high school, Tommy joined the Army. While in the Army he was
known as a very funny solider everywhere he was stationed. While listening
to the music of the late James Brown, he fell in love with the music and
began to sing and dance at military balls and parties. People were
amazed at the James Brown act that Tommy preformed and could not get enough! Tommy
would also do stand-up skits featuring James Brown, BB King, Aretha Franklin,
Al Green and Stevie Wonder and performed for diverse audiences through out
the military. Tommy has written, directed and performed in many stage plays. He wrote a stage play for Halloween called "All Out War" in October of 2004, introducing the main character: The Reverend Adopheous GetRight. Rev. GetRight is an old school, absolutely no-nonsense preacher who tells it like it is. Rev. GetRight tells about his past and allows the audience to laugh as his mistakes. He makes fun of himself and acts crazy and pushy with his conversations. This character has proven to be a crowd favorite! Tommy has done stand-up comedy for many churches, which has not always been an easy thing. He has found that some Christians take things too personal, when his intent was just comedy. Tommy feels that with his talents, he has been given a window of opportunity to entertain God's people - whether they be black, white, hispanic, Christian or not. Tommy is using this comedy forum to bring more people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Tommy enjoys writing, singing, dancing, attending church and acting out clean comedy. Life, love, marriage, divorce are all used as inspiration for his comedy routines. Tommy particularly enjoys an old school style of comedy which caters to all people, races and ages. Tommy Ingram is proud to be known as a Christian Comedian who makes Christians laugh about real life! |
